The Fine Print, a local advocacy magazine in Gainesville, lost a large chunk of its funding earlier this year. In order to have enough money to print the magazine, the editorial board launched a crowdfunding project. For this project, I created a design for use as a poster, post card or cross-platform friendly image for the web that would act as a prize for those who donated upwards up $10 to the cause.
I used InDesign and Photoshop to create a retro-style “Visit Gainesville” image depicting the memorable expanse of Payne’s Prairie, a local landmark.
This is a preliminary sketch. I’ve left space for text at the bottom, which was later turned into a bike leaning against a wood railing, as a playful reminder of Gainesville’s extremely active biking community.
